Ann Arbor, MI – Salem University Women's Water Polo opened up the 2022 season at the Michigan Invitational, competing against three top 10 opponents.
The Tigers fell in game one against Long Island University 16-6. Margherita Garibbo led the Tigers with two goals. Annefleur ten Bloemendal, Heather Lock, Chloe Woodbine, and Alexa Corrao each came away with one apiece. Philippa Piper had 10 saves in game one.
In game two, the Tigers faced off with #3 UCLA. Bloemendal with two goals and Sierra Maze with one were the only two to score in the 26-3 loss against the nationally ranked UCLA.
Madisyn Nye led the scoring for the Tigers with two in the game three loss against #5 University of Hawaii 17-5. Garibbo, Woodbine and Erin Zappia contributed one each. Piper had seven saves as goalie for the Tigers.
The final game of the weekend, the Tigers fell to #2 Stanford University 19-3. Woodbine came away with two goals and Garibbo with one. Piper and Lola Gill combined for six saves in game four.
