GLENVILLE, West Virginia - After the Tigers volleyball team came up short in the home opener at the Bridge Sports Complex against Glenville State, they were anxious for an opportunity to get back at the Pioneers. They found just such an opportunity as they traveled down to Glenville for a Thursday evening matchup. Despite the improvements of the last couple contests, the Tigers found themselves behind early, and fell by a score of 3-0.
After making strides in the last two contests offensively, the Tigers found themselves struggling to keep pace with the Pioneers on the score sheet. Long rallies would give Glenville initial control, and Tiger comeback bids were not quite enough to bring the contests back even. All three sets followed the very similar trajectory. Pioneers would jump out to really leads. Salem would furiously try to battle back, but the Pioneer offensive attack kept the contest out of reach. With each set well in hand early, the Pioneers cruised to the 3-0 win.Â
However, there were some bright areas for the Tigers on the stats sheet. Trinity Eliasen had a great game as she recorded 7 assists and 10 digs. Brianna Sotelo was excellent again from her libero position with 13 digs.Â
Despite the difficult ending to the evening, the Tigers are right back at it as they plan to take part in an invitational hosted by the University of Charleston. They are scheduled for a Friday doubleheader against host Charleston at Noon, and then will take on Belmont Abbey College at 5 pm.
