SALEM, West Virginia - After a hard fought win over Washington Adventist over the weekend, Salem men's basketball was looking to make it 4 straight wins with Penn State - Greater Allegheny coming to town. Salem did just that with a dominant team performance that yielded them a 106-45 win.Â
For the first half, Salem got off to a great start as Fope Okuyiga took a pass fresh off the opening tip and flushed it down with an empathic dunk. From there, Salem controlled the game from start to finish. Stan Smith continued his hot shooting of late with multiple big three points in the first half. Not to be outdone by their teammate, Ian Hardy and Markanthony Fidelis continued to rain them down from three point range, and Salem cruised to a 43-25 win at the half.Â
After the half, the rout was on, and the Salem offensive firepower was on full display with Brandon Francois, Ata Atsuren, and Justin Tene all hitting big shots for the Tigers. Towards the end of the period, Salem was able to make full utilization of their bench with Kevin Kashala, Joe Patterson, and Walker Moreland all getting some valuable playing time. In the end, Salem finished up with a dominant win over Penn State Greater Allegheny by a score of 106-45.Â
On the stats sheet, Salem was led by Stan Smith with 21 points. Ian Hardy was just behind him with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both Fope Okuyiga and Ashraf Tchadouwa had 14 points for the Tigers, but Tchadouwa made it a double double as he chipped in 14 rebounds as well.Â
This big win should energize the Tigers as they are set to hit the road for their next game. They head to Harrogate, Tennessee on January 11th at 7:30 PM for a battle with the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters.
