WEST VIRGINIA- The Salem Tigers were back in action this weekend with a doubleheader matchup against the University of Charleston and West Virginia State this weekend. Salem entered this weekend with a record of 5-14.

Salem opened the weekend with a road trip to Charleston to take on the Golden Eagles. The Tiger offense struggled in the opening set while Charleston made the best of their homecourt advantage. Charleston took the first set 25-7. Salem looked to bounce back in set two and seemed like a new team with their offense hitting stride and their defense coming up with some timely stops. Unfortunately, the momentum remained with the Golden Eagles as they took set two 25-19. Salem looked to hold off the loss, but Charleston's momentum proved too much as they took the third set 25-14 and sent the Tigers home with a 3-0 win.

The Tigers were back on the road tonight as they traveled to Institute, West Virginia to take on the Yellow Jackets. Salem was tired from the road trip the day before and looked to have a bounce-back performance on West Virginia State's home court. The Tigers got down early and the Yellow Jackets kept momentum in their favor as they cruised to a 25-3 win in set one. Salem improved inset two. They got their offense together and were able to string together some stops against a tough State opponent. In the end, Salem just didn't have enough in the tank as they dropped the second set 25-8. The Tigers played their best set of the day in the third where they were able to get some back-and-forth going between the two sides, but the Tigers were unable to prevent the Yellow Jackets from scoring as they lost the third set 25-13, and dropped the match 3-0.
