SALEM, WV- Tonight's volleyball action had the Salem Tigers set to face off against the visiting Hilltoppers from West Liberty. Entering tonight's match Salem came in with a record of 4-9 and West Liberty with a record of 13-4.

The first set was all Hilltoppers. They got out early and established a strong lead at 12-0. Salem played much better the remainder of the match while still getting outscored 13-7. That early lead became the difference maker as the Hilltoppers claimed set one, 25-7.

Set number two was a totally different story. Salem grabbed an early lead at 2-1 and remained with West Liberty throughout the set. Both teams seemed evenly matched and had an answer for anything the other would throw at them. The Hilltoppers had a slight edge as the set began to come to a close at 22-18. The experience of West Lib showed as they claimed set number two 25-19.

The third set felt like it was somewhere in between the first and the second. Salem looked competitive in the early stages, keeping it within one at 4-3. Then they seemed to revert back to the first set. West Liberty scored seven consecutive points to establish an 11-3 advantage, and they didn't take their foot off the gas there. They ended the set on a 14-6 run and won the final set 25-9.

The Tigers will be back on their home court tomorrow, October 4th at 6pm playing against Carlow University.
