SALEM, WV- Last night the Salem Tigers hosted the Falcons from Fairmont State for some regular season volleyball action. The Tigers entered the match with a record of 5-10 and the Falcons entered with a record of 8-10.
Â
The first set was a dominant showing by the Falcons. Their offense seemed unstoppable as they cruised to a first-set win 25-2.
Â
Salem began to pick up the pace in set number two. Fairmont State got ahead in the early stages before Salem began to make a run. The Tigers ended the set on a 7-4 run, but it was too little too late as the Falcons claimed another win 25-16.
Â
Set number three opened with back-and-forth action between the two sides as the Falcons narrowly held on to a 3-2 lead. From there the Falcons reeled off an 8-0 run to push their lead to nine. Once again an early lead hurt the Tigers most in the end as they dropped the third set 25-10 in a match loss to Fairmont 3-0.
Â
The Tigers next game is Tuesday, October 10th against Notre Dame College (Ohio) in South Euclid, Ohio at 7pm.
