Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Kaden Shoaf

Salem Outpaced by Notre Dame College

BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia - On a blustery, rain soaked late afternoon in Bridgeport, the Salem Tigers women's soccer team continued their search for their first win of the season. They played host to the Notre Dame College Falcons at The Bridge Sports Complex. However, Salem was simply outpaced by the Falcons this particular afternoon, and fell by a score of 7-0.

Early on, the Tigers leaned on their trademark strong defensive play as they kept the Falcons at bay. Head Coach Florin Marton called in an offside trap strategy that proved effective in the Tiger's draw with Fairmont State earlier in the week. Unfortunately, this iteration of the Falcons were able to solve the puzzle as they jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage. Notre Dame added 1 more just before the half, and Salem went into the intermission with a 3-0 deficit.

Yet, the halftime adjustments did little to help the Tiger's cause. The Falcons offensive attack outpaced Salem on their way to 4 more goals, and a 7-0 win.

On the positive side for Salem, the Tigers did get some strong offensive chances from Marina Cher and Ana Luiza Ferrante. Defensively, goalkeeper Sarah Cabrera added 16 saves to her season totals.

While this is certainly not the scoreline the Tigers were looking for, Salem will be back in action and looking to get back on track on Wednesday, September 27th at 4 PM when they head over to Elkins to take on the Senators of Davis and Elkins College.
