Salem got the offense rolling early. Mackenzie Wainwright kicked things off with a sacrifice groundout that scored Jose Lojo from third. The Tigers capped off the top of the inning with a Nathan Kuhn single that brought in Luis Angarita to make it 2-0 Salem. Sam Schmitt took the mound as Salem's starter in the bottom half of the inning and delivered a scoreless frame for Salem. The Tiger offense hit paydirt again in the third when Jacob Hurley sent a ball into center field that scored Angarita and Lojo and moved Tyler Shinn over to third. Shinn caught the Pioneers by surprise and swiped home plate for the Tiger's third run of the inning, and extended their lead to 5-0. Glenville took one out of play off of Schmitt in the top of the fourth for their first run of the afternoon. Glenville reached home again in the fifth off a wild pitch from Schmitt and struck again with an RBI single up the middle. After this Salem turned to Jhayden Raineri to help right the ship. The Pioneers tacked two more on after the Tiger substitution off another single tying the game up 5-5. Salem turned things up a few notches offensively in the top of the sixth. The Tigers totaled nine runs in the inning to take a commanding 14-5 lead over Glenville. Salem tacked one more on in the seventh to make their lead an even ten runs with just three outs separating the Pioneers from defeat. Glenville looked like they might make a run when they scored three in the bottom of the seventh, but the deficit was too large and the Tigers came away victorious with a final score of 15-5.

Glenville continued to pile it on with a triple to tack on one more before Salem turned things over to Zack Kendall to try and get them through the frame. Glenville sent yet another ball out of play for two more runs making the Salem deficit 0-8. Salem began to make a run at things in the top of the fifth when Brett Ehr got a hold of one and sent it out of the park with Max Atkinson and Luis Angarita on base to score three.
