LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania- The Tigers traveled to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania this weekend as they competed in the Bucknell Invitational. Salem started play Saturday morning as they took on Saddleback College in an exhibition game. Later that day, the Tigers competed in their second game against LIU. To wrap the weekend up the Tigers played against Fordham on Sunday afternoon. Salem was able to win 2 out of 3 in the Bucknell Invitational this weekend.
Salem 22, Saddleback 15
Saturday morning the Tigers started off the Bucknell Invitational against Saddleback College at 11:20 AM. Salem was able to get off to a successful start leading 9-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Marko Zivojinovic and
Danko Kesic were both able to score three goals each in the first. The Tigers were able to keep the offense rolling going into the half with a 14-6 lead. In the second half, both teams were exchanging goals at a high rate with Salem still maintaining a 20-12 lead going into the fourth. In the fourth, Saddleback was able to outscore Salem, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers were able to take game one 22-15. The Tigers were led in game one by
Danko Kesic and
Marko Zivojinovic both scoring seven goals each.
Salem 25, LIU 16
The second game of the Bucknell Invitational the Salem Tigers went up against the LIU Sharks. In the first quarter, both teams went back and forth on offense with the game being tied 7-7 at the end of one. Salem was able to go on a run in the second quarter and outscore the Sharks 8-4 in the second quarter. The Tigers held a 15-11 lead at the end of the first half. In the third quarter, Salem extended their lead to 22-13 at the end of the third period. In the fourth, LIU was able to score three goals, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers took down LIU 25-16. Goncalo Silva had 10 saves and
Nikola Krstonosic led the way for the Tigers scoring a team leading 9 goals.
Fordham 23, Salem 11
The final game of the weekend for the Salem Tigers they faced off against Fordham University. The first quarter of play the Fordham Rams got off to a hot start as they held a 7-4 lead over the Salem Tigers. In the second quarter, the Tigers struggled getting the offense going as they were only able to score one goal. Fordham held a 13-5 lead at halftime. In the second half, the Salem Tigers managed to get the offense rolling scoring 7 goals. However, it wasn't enough as the Fordham Rams secured the 23-11 victory.
After a solid weekend at the Bucknell Invitational, the Tigers will have some time off before they head to Maryland on October 11
th to take on Mount St. Mary's.
