WHEELING, W.Va. – Salem University volleyball dropped a three-set match to Wheeling University on Friday night, falling 25-17, 25-15, 25-15.
The Tigers (7-7) were led by Marika Righi, who finished with 6 kills, 10 digs, and 2 service aces, while Alexandra Vigneron matched her with 6 kills on a team-best .333 hitting percentage. Valentina Poti added 5 kills and 9 digs, and Mykenzie Clyncke contributed 4 kills and a block assist.
Setter Katie Kennedy dished out 11 assists to pace the offense, while Ana Julia Avila Vian anchored the defense with 11 digs. Christeena Craddock and Amari Nunez each added 8 digs as the Tigers kept rallies alive against Wheeling's powerful front line.
Wheeling (8-8) hit an impressive .308 as a team, led by Bella DeBarr with 10 kills and Avery Henschen with 6 kills on .455 hitting. The Cardinals controlled each set from the service line and capitalized on 18 Salem attack errors.
Salem Women's Volleyball returns home on Tuesday, October 14th at 7 PM when they host the Pioners of Point Park.
