HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Salem University women's basketball continued its non-conference road stretch on Tuesday night, falling 105–31 to NCAA Division I opponent Marshall inside the Cam Henderson Center.
Despite the challenging matchup, Meilin Guo turned in a strong all-around performance for the Tigers, finishing with 8 points, a team-high eight rebounds, and a block. Nakayla Green added 7 points and two steals, including Salem's lone three-pointer of the night.
Batoul Khaleefah and Akhia Miller each scored 4 points, with Khaleefah also distributing a team-high three assists. Taja Brown pulled down 4 rebounds and scored 4 points, while Kori Pillette added 2 points and three rebounds off the bench.
Salem shot a perfect 8–for–8 from the free-throw line and collected 29 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end. The Tigers also recorded nine steals, led by Green, Khaleefah, and Jackson.
Marshall led 55–15 at halftime and used balanced scoring to maintain its advantage throughout the second half. Salem continued to compete through all four quarters, highlighted by a solid late stretch from Guo, Green, and Brown.
The Tigers will not have much time to adjust as they will take on West Virginia Tech in their home debut in just 2 days time. That contest will be played on November 20th at 5:30 PM in T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
