CALIFORNIA, Pennsylvania- Coming off the weekend series win, the Salem Tigers baseball team was back in action. This time the Tigers headed north to the state of Pennsylvania to face off against the California PA Vulcans in a 9-inning contest. It would be the Vulcans who would prevail in the 9-5 victory over Salem.
In the top of the 1
st,
Aaron Forbes would get the Tigers off to a nice start with 2 rbi double to left center. Jacon Hurley and
Aidan McMurdo scored on the play. However, the Vulcans would come back with a huge 2
nd inning of their own. A homer to score the first run, followed up by a rbi single. A few moments later, a costly wild pitch by the Tigers led to the third run of the inning. The Vulcans still weren't done scoring, as they were able to knock in another run to grab a 4-2 advantage after the second inning. In the top of the 3
rd, Forbes continued his big day with another rbi double to left center.
Ryder Costa followed that up with a single to left field to regain the lead for Salem. Forbes and
Reese Rinna scored the runs. In the bottom of the 3

As the 4
th inning came around, the Vulcans would retake the lead once again after a pair of singles led to 2 more runs. Cal now had a 7-5 advantage as we headed into the 5
th inning. The Vulcans followed a good 4
th inning up with a solo shot to left field to take the 8-5 advantage as the 5
th inning came to an end. The Tigers bats had gone cold during this stretch of action and desperately needed to cut into the lead. However, Cal was able to knock in another insurance run in the bottom of the 7
th to take a 9-5 lead. The Tigers were unfortunately not able to get much going, as Cal Pa ended up defeating Salem by a final score of 9-5.
After the road loss, the Tigers will try to look past this one. Salem will now prepare for their next series as they continue the road trip on Friday for a weekend series at West Liberty. The Tigers will play a doubleheader on Friday and another one on Saturday before Easter Sunday.
