DUBOIS, Pennsylvania - With a tough result for Salem softball last night, the Tigers had their work cut out for themselves today in a 10 AM matchup with Penn State Schuylkill. Salem made some strides, but ultimately fell 4-1 in part to a slow day offensively.
The Tigers jumped ahead early, with junior third baseman Brooke Wise doubling in the first and coming around to score on Jazmyn Moetului's RBI single up the middle. But that would be all the offense Salem could muster, as they were limited to just three hits the rest of the way.
Franchesca Alvaro made the start, allowing four runs over five innings and taking the loss. Kendall Lemley delivered a strong relief effort, striking out four and not allowing a hit over the final two frames.
Offensively, Salem couldn't regain momentum after the opening inning, striking out eight times and failing to reach base in the final two innings. Defensively, the Tigers committed one error and left three runners stranded.
This loss leaves a tough conclusion to what has been a strong 2025 season for the Tigers that included the highest win total for the program since the early 1990s. Head Coach Steve Potts and his program will certainly be looking to build on those successes in the spring of 2026 for the Tigers.
