Salem Battles to Draw with Davis & Elkins

BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia - Salem University men's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw with Davis & Elkins on Sunday afternoon at The Bridge, earning a result in front of the home crowd.

The Senators struck first in the 30th minute when Yiftah Harari converted off a setup from Chinedu Ikem. Salem goalkeeper Jason Barrientos kept the Tigers close in the first half, recording seven saves to withstand sustained pressure from the visitors.

The Tigers equalized in the 59th minute as defender CJ Branch finished a well-placed pass from Max Cavanagh, marking his first goal of the season and leveling the score at 1-1. Salem carried the momentum from there, outshooting Davis & Elkins 9-6 in the second half and generating seven corner kicks.

Barrientos closed the door late, finishing with 10 saves on 11 shots on goal to preserve the draw. Offensively, Josue Villegas led the Tigers with three shots, two on frame, while Dylan Vaughn and Giancarlo Pardo also applied pressure on the Senators' defense.

Next, the Tigers face off with regional power Charleston at home on Wednesday, September 24th at 2:30 PM at The Bridge Sports Complex.
