SALEM, W.Va. – The Salem University Tigers women's basketball team faced a challenging matchup at home on Saturday afternoon, falling 75-55 to the Fairmont State Falcons at the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium. Despite several strong individual performances, a high-scoring opening frame from the visitors proved too much for the Tigers to overcome.
Early Deficit Sets the Tone
Fairmont State (13-3) jumped out to a commanding lead early, outscoring Salem 29-14 in the first quarter. The Falcons' offensive efficiency was on full display early on, as they shot 73.3% from the field in the opening ten minutes.
Salem fought back in the final frame, outscoring Fairmont State 18-13 in the fourth quarter, but the initial gap remained a hurdle throughout the contest.

The Tigers were led by a balanced offensive effort, with three players reaching double figures:
