Salem Women's Basketball Shows Resilience in Road Battle Against West Virginia State

DUNBAR, WV – The Salem University Tigers (2-20) showcased a persistent offensive effort on Saturday afternoon against West Virginia State (10-13) at the Walker Convocation Center. Despite the final score, several Tigers delivered standout individual performances, particularly in a strong second-quarter surge.

Salem Individual Highlights

  • Taja Brown provided a major spark for the Tigers, leading the team with 16 points. Brown was aggressive in getting to the line, converting 7-of-12 free throws, and added five rebounds and an assist to her stat line.

  • Kamarice Jackson was highly efficient from the perimeter, scoring 9 points on 3-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 from three-point range.

  • Meilin Guo anchored the interior for Salem, finishing with 9 points and three rebounds while logging 26 minutes of action.

  • Fatima Bakayoko dominated the glass for the Tigers, pulling down a team-high 7 rebounds (6 offensive) to go along with 8 points.

  • Batoul Khaleefah contributed across the board with 3 points, three rebounds, and two steals in 14 minutes off the bench.
