Tigers Defeated in Regular Season Finale

The Salem University women's basketball team battled throughout Saturday afternoon but came up short in a 66-56 loss to Point Park University inside T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.

Salem (3-24) led after the first quarter and remained within striking distance for much of the contest in a game that featured 10 lead changes and seven ties. The Tigers held a 20-16 advantage after the opening period and trailed by just one, 32-31, at halftime.

Selena Frost paced the Tigers with 20 points, adding four rebounds and two steals. Nakayla Green followed with 13 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc, while Meilin Guo added 10 points and four assists. Akhia Miller and Taja Brown contributed six and five rebounds, respectively, helping Salem stay competitive on the glass.

Salem shot 47 percent from the field in the first quarter and continued to attack the paint, finishing with 32 points inside. The Tigers also generated 10 fast-break points and forced timely turnovers to keep the momentum swinging in their favor early.

In the third quarter, Salem briefly regained the lead at 33-32 after a layup from Camille Fultz, but Point Park answered with a late surge to take a 47-45 edge into the final frame.

The Tigers tied the game at 47-47 early in the fourth quarter and later pulled ahead 52-49 following a three-pointer from Kamryn Pieper. However, Point Park responded with a decisive run midway through the period and shot 70 percent in the fourth quarter to close out the contest.

Alexis Giles led Point Park with 17 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 performance from the free-throw line, while Camille Fultz added 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Salem will look to build on its competitive effort as the Tigers prepare for their next matchup.
