Tigers Cruise Past Ohio Christian

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Salem University combined timely hitting and strong pitching performances to sweep a doubleheader from Ohio Christian on Tuesday at The Bridge Sports Complex.

Game 1: Salem 5, Ohio Christian 2

Salem opened the day with a controlled, well-rounded 5-2 victory behind a complete-game effort in the circle and consistent offensive production.

The Tigers struck early, scoring twice in the first inning. Kylie Zinn got things started with an RBI triple, and Jacobi Gledhill followed with an RBI single to give Salem a 2-0 lead.

Salem added to its advantage in the third inning when Zinn came through again, eventually scoring on a sacrifice fly from Kendall Lemley to make it 3-0.

Ohio Christian chipped away with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, cutting the deficit to 4-2, but Salem had an answer. Zinn delivered once more in the sixth with a sacrifice fly to bring home Bella Ortiz, extending the lead to 5-2.

At the plate, Salem totaled 10 hits, led by Gledhill's perfect 3-for-3 performance. Zinn added two hits and two RBIs, while Ali Jacobs contributed a pair of hits and scored a run. Ortiz also reached base three times and scored twice, setting the tone at the top of the lineup.
