NUTTER FORT, WV – The Salem University Tigers baseball team put on a clinical performance this weekend at Frank Loria Memorial field, winning three out of four games against the Lock Haven Bald Eagles. Salem's bats exploded for 30 runs on Saturday alone, setting the tone for a successful series.

Salem opened the series with a pair of dominant 15-2 victories on Saturday.

Game 1: Salem 15, Lock Haven 2 The Tigers jumped out to a massive lead early, scoring three runs in the first inning and nine in the second. Aaron Forbes led the charge, going 4-for-4 with a three-run home run and 4 RBIs. Landon McAlpine also had a big game, blasting a grand slam in the second inning. Reese Rinna added a solo shot as part of a 3-RBI performance. On the mound, Aiden Eddy earned the win in relief, while Conor Thiele struck out three in a solid start.

Game 2: Salem 15, Lock Haven 2 The script remained much the same in the second game of the day. Brandon Hoftijzer drove in four runs on three hits, including a two-RBI double in the first inning. Jared Layfield added 3 RBIs, while Joe Wintermute and Jimmy Laforce each chipped in with two. Logan Prater picked up the win, striking out three in his inning of work.
Sunday: Teams Split Tight Contests
The series shifted to more competitive matchups on Sunday, with each team taking a game.

Game 3: Lock Haven 5, Salem 3 Lock Haven managed to snap Salem's win streak in the Sunday opener. Despite a solo home run from Joe Wintermute and RBIs from Cody Thomas and Jimmy Laforce, the Tigers couldn't overcome a mid-game push by the Bald Eagles. Brian Kendall provided four solid innings for Salem, allowing only one run, but the bullpen took the loss.

Game 4: Salem 4, Lock Haven 1 Salem bounced back in the series finale to secure the 3-1 series victory. Richie Preston was outstanding in relief, earning the win after striking out four and allowing no hits over two innings. Reese Rinna provided the early spark with a solo home run in the second inning, and Chase Clemons delivered a clutch RBI single in the sixth to help seal the win.
The Tigers (11-6) will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup as they continue their 2026 campaign.
