FROSTBURG, MD – The Salem University Tigers softball team came up short in both halves of a road doubleheader against Frostburg State University on Sunday afternoon. Despite keeping the score level through the middle innings of both contests, the Tigers moved to 13-21 on the season following the two-game set.
Game One: Frostburg State 10, Salem 2
In the afternoon's opening contest, Salem battled to a mid-game tie before the Bobcats pulled away late to secure a victory in five innings.
The Tigers faced an early 2-0 deficit but began their comeback in the third inning when Jacobi Gledhill singled to right field, driving in Kendall Lemley. Salem leveled the score at 2-2 in the top of the fourth as Brooke Wise doubled down the left-field line to bring home Bella Ortiz, who had previously reached on a walk and stolen second base.
The stalemate was broken in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run, followed by a seven-run explosion from the Frostburg State offense in the fifth inning to end the game via the run rule.

Game Two: Frostburg State 4, Salem 3
The nightcap proved to be a defensive battle, with the Tigers falling in a narrow one-run decision.
Salem struck first in the opening frame when Ali Shrieve delivered an RBI single to center field, scoring Alyssa Schultz. The Bobcats answered with a solo shot in the second and took a 3-1 lead in the fifth following a Salem error.
Showing great late-inning resilience, the Tigers rallied to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning. Brooke Wise doubled to right-center to score Kendall Lemley, and Jacobi Gledhill followed with a clutch RBI single to right field that brought Brooke Wise home to make it 3-3. However, Frostburg State managed to secure the win in the bottom of the seventh.
