GLENVILLE, W.Va. — Salem University softball dropped both ends of a Monday doubleheader at Glenville State.
GAME ONE: Glenville State 10, Salem 2
Salem jumped out early in the opener as Alyssa Schultz connected on a solo home run in the first inning to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The Pioneers answered in the second and took control in the third on a two-run home run, before breaking the game open with a four-run fourth inning.
Salem added its second run in the fourth when Kylie Zinn doubled home Bella Ortiz, but the Tigers were unable to keep pace with Glenville State's offense.
Zinn finished with a hit and RBI, while Jacobi Gledhill and Ortiz each recorded two hits in the loss.
GAME TWO: Glenville State 8, Salem 0
The nightcap saw Glenville State take control early and pull away for an 8-0 victory.
Salem was limited to four hits, with Brooke Wise leading the way with two. Gledhill and Zinn added the other hits for the Tigers.
Glenville State broke through in the second inning and steadily built its lead, highlighted by a four-run fourth inning to extend the advantage.
Salem falls to 15-32 on the season.
