EDINBORO, Pa. — The Salem University women's volleyball team ran into a hot-hitting offense on Tuesday evening, falling 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-12) to Edinboro University in non-conference action inside McComb Fieldhouse.
The setback moves the Tigers to 10-7 on the season, while Edinboro improves to 7-6 overall.
Edinboro established control early in the opening set, utilizing a high-powered attack to claim a 25-15 win. Salem generated its best offensive rhythm in the second frame, hitting .226 behind physical swings from Alexandra Vigneron and Brianna Beyerle, but the Fighting Scots answered with 16 kills to secure the 25-18 set victory.
The host Scots maintained their momentum into the third frame, catching fire at a .393 clip with 13 kills while holding the Tigers to a .034 hitting percentage to seal the straight-sets win 25-12.
Vigneron paced the Tigers with nine kills, while Beyerle added six kills and seven digs. Middle blocker Noemi Combi contributed three kills and a pair of service aces. Katie Kennedy orchestrated the offense with 12 assists, while Lorin Turkdogan anchored the backline with 10 digs.
Edinboro was led by Makayla Neelands, who turned in a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs, while Reilly Parent added 11 kills.
