BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Salem University men's soccer team fell 3-0 to Millersville University on Saturday afternoon at The Bridge Sports Complex.
Millersville struck early in the opening half to control the momentum, capitalizing on three unanswered goals within the first 22 minutes of play. Matias Schmidt opened the scoring for the Marauders in the 16th minute off an assist from Brian O'Neill. Roy Parkyn followed up shortly after, netting a brace with goals in the 18th and 22nd minutes to build a quick 3-0 cushion.
Salem generated five shot attempts on the day, forcing Millersville goalkeepers Gavin Massimi and Logan Kratz to make one save apiece. Junior Lormera led the Tigers' attack with two shots, including a strike on goal in the 33rd minute. Abdul Kabbany, Ethan Hinds, and Nicolas Del Gaudio each added single shot attempts for the Salem offense.
Goalkeeper Gregory Lynch played the full 90 minutes in net for the Tigers, recording six saves on 16 total shots faced from Millersville.
Physical play escalated in the second half, with the official handing out three yellow cards to Salem defenders David Ramirez (66'), Anthony Blankenship (82'), and Xavier Villa (87').
With the setback, Salem moves to 2-1-0 on the season, while Millersville improves to 3-1-0.
