PEPPER PIKE, Ohio — Powerful net play and high-pressure service behind the line propelled the Salem University women's volleyball team to a 3-1 road victory (25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19) over Ursuline College on Tuesday evening at the Sister Diana Stano Athletic Center.
The Tigers imposed their presence at the service stripe throughout the night, dropping in 15 aces to keep the Arrows out of system. Salem also established the match's offensive tempo, firing off 49 total kills to outpace Ursuline's 37.
Alexandra Vigneron led all players on the floor with a game-high 19 kills, taking 53 total attacks while adding six digs and two blocks. Brianna Beyerle turned in a double-double effort, hammering down 11 kills and pulling up 13 digs alongside three service aces. Noemi Combi chipped in eight kills, while middle hitters Sarah Ghadesi Morales and Sofia Ghadesi Morales contributed four kills apiece.
Salem utilized a two-setter system to direct the attack, as Amari Nunez dished out 17 assists and Katie Kennedy recorded a double-double with 12 assists, 12 digs, and four service aces.
Defensively, Lorin Turkdogan anchored the back row with a match-high 20 digs, while Ana Julia Avila Vian racked up 16 digs. At the net, Lily Irvin assisted on four blocks to halt the Arrows' attack.
The Tigers started strong in the opening set, terminating 16 kills to secure a 25-22 win. After Ursuline responded by taking the second set 25-20, Salem regrouped defensively in the third, holding the Arrows to an .094 hitting percentage to take a 25-18 victory and regain momentum.
In a competitive fourth frame featuring five tie scores and three lead changes, Salem pulled away late. The Tigers converted 13 fourth-set kills to lock up the 25-19 win and clinch the four-set victory.
Ellie Zoeckler led Ursuline with 11 kills and 15 digs, while Mya Jackson logged 20 digs on defense.
