Owens enters his first season as a graduate assistant at Salem University.
Owens, a Toronto native, joins the team coming from Mars Hill University where he recently graduated and was a member on its baseball team for two years. Owens had a 1.002 OPS his senior year and also finished with the fourth highest on base percentage for a single season in school history(.520).

Owens transferred to Mars Hill University after playing at Wake Tech CC in Raleigh, North Carolina. Owens started at first base for the Eagles and led them to a 30-22 record in 2016.

He has over 15 years of experience in baseball with strong leadership skills.

Owens was an assistant coach for the Toronto Mets in the summer of 2018.
