Head Coach Steve Potts took over the Salem softball program in May of 2008, and has served as a athletic department advisor since 2022. He first came to Salem as an assistant softball coach in 2005. He also previously filled various roles at Salem including assistant athletic director from 2012 through 2015, and athletic director from 2015 to 2022.
Potts holds Tiger softball coaching records for most career wins and most wins in a season with 23 in 2016. The Tigers softball program has also made waves in the USCAA Small College World Series under Potts with a 3rd place finish in 2023, and a runner up finish in 2024. Prior to Salem, Potts spent time working as an assistant coach here in Harrison County at both Bridgeport High School (2000-2003) and Bridgeport Middle School (1995-1999).
After graduating from Bridgeport High School, he earned his undergraduate degree in business administration at Salem University in 2013 while serving as a coach and administrator here at Salem.
