Corey Hines took over as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Salem University in 2025-26. Hines brings more than two decades of coaching, mentoring, and leadership experience to the Tigers program, with a strong background in player development and program building at both the collegiate and high school levels.
Hines comes to Salem following two seasons as an assistant coach at Glenville State University from 2023-2025. During his time with the Pioneers, the program earned a runner-up finish in the Mountain East Conference while continuing its tradition as one of the top women’s basketball programs in the region.
Prior to Glenville State, Hines spent 13 seasons as head coach of the Fairmont Senior High School Lady Polar Bears from 2010-2023, building one of the premier high school programs in West Virginia. Under his leadership, Fairmont Senior captured eight sectional championships, nine regional championships, and made nine appearances in the WVSSAC State Tournament. The Lady Polar Bears finished as state runner-up four times and won state championships in 2017 and 2019. Hines earned multiple coaching honors throughout his tenure, including Coach of the Year recognition from the WVSSAC, the National Federation of High School Coaches, and both the Big 10 and NCAC Conferences.
In addition to his coaching experience, Hines is the co-founder of the WV Reign AAU Basketball Club and has remained active in community outreach through several charitable events and fundraisers, including the Joseph Harold Memorial Scholarship All-Star Basketball Game, Battle of the Badges, and the American Cancer Society Polar Bear Fundraiser.
A native of Michigan, Hines was a multi-sport athlete before earning a basketball scholarship to Ohio Valley University. He later completed his education at Fairmont State University and Destiny College International.
