Michael Stewart

Michael Stewart took over as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Salem in 2022 and continues to oversee the Tigers’ strength and conditioning program. He also oversees Gameday Operations for the Tigers. Since joining Salem, Stewart has played a major role in enhancing the university’s training facilities and athlete development systems.

During his tenure, Stewart expanded the Salem weight room by 800 square feet and added a turf training section to better accommodate the university’s larger roster sports. In 2024, he introduced laser timing gates for speed and agility testing, bringing combine-style performance evaluation technology to Salem student-athletes.

In addition to overseeing strength and conditioning operations, Stewart has mentored several graduate assistants and young coaches who have gone on to positions at institutions including Gardner-Webb University, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and the University of Cincinnati.

Before entering the strength and conditioning profession, Stewart was a standout wrestler at the University of Findlay, where he earned Academic All-American honors and was recognized with the Coca-Cola Scholar-Athlete Award.
