Theophilus Egbele

Theophilus “Theo” Egbele was named head women’s soccer coach at Salem in June 2019.
 
Prior to arriving at Salem, Egbele spent six years as director of operations for the nationally top 10-ranked West Virginia University women’s soccer program. The Mountaineers earned a No. 1 national ranking for eight weeks in 2016 and advanced to the National Championship Match of the 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament, finishing the season as national runner-up.
 
West Virginia reached the NCAA Tournament in all six years of Egbele’s tenure, including a national quarterfinal finish in 2015. The Mountaineers also captured four Big 12 Conference Tournament championships and three regular season titles.
 
Egbele also founded and served as head coach of the West Virginia University men’s soccer club program. He has also coached at the youth and high school levels, earning coach of the year honors in both girls’ and boys’ soccer.
 
Egbele graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor's degree in biometrics systems engineering.
