Matt Carpenter took the helm of the Salem Women's Volleyball program in 2023. Since taking over the Tigers program, Carpenter has continued building the foundation of the program while bringing extensive coaching experience from the high school ranks.
Before arriving at Salem, Carpenter served as head volleyball coach at Ritchie County High School from 2014-2022, where he established one of the top programs in West Virginia. During his tenure, he accumulated more than 280 career victories while leading the Rebels to seven WVSSAC State Tournament appearances, two state runner-up finishes, two conference championships, three sectional titles, and four regional championships. He also served on the WVSSAC Volleyball Rules Committee and contributed as an assistant coach in basketball, baseball, and track during his time at Ritchie County.
Carpenter began his collegiate career at Ohio Valley University before transferring to Fairmont State University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 2002 and competed as a member of the Falcons tennis program.
