Inkera Patterson scored 25 points to go along with five steals, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers fell in their home opener to Saint Joseph's College (Ind), 71-57, on Monday night at the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
The Tigers fall to 0-5 (0-0 G-MAC) while Saint Joseph's registers their first win of the 2014-15 season and now sit at 1-3 overall.
The Tigers were 21-for-46 from the floor for 45.7% while Saint Joseph's College was only maginally better with a 27-for-58 performance from the floor that comes out to 46.6%. Salem more than doubled the attempts at the charity stripe with 19 compared to just eight (8) for the Pumas. However, it was the long-distance shooting that made all the difference as SJC netted 10 three's compared to just two (2) from Salem International.
The Tigers return to the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium tomorrow to take on the University of Pittsburgh - Johnstown. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m and will be aired live on the SIU Stretch Internet Portal.
