SALEM, W.Va. - The Salem International University women's basketball team suffered their 18th loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers fell to Ohio Valley University, 61-51, in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action.
The Tigers (0-18, 0-6 G-MAC) were hot in the first half, shooting 41.7% from the field and eventually building a 15 points lead while their opponents shot just 25.7% from the field. However, in a classic role reversal, it was Ohio Valley (4-11, 3-3 G-MAC) that had the hot hand in the second half, shooting 44.4% while Salem misfired for just 26.1% from the field.
Salem was led by
Samantha Aikens' 18 point performance.
Jessica Lagard chipped in 13 and
Shakinah Haggins grabbed 11 boards for the Tigers. OVU was led by Ghameerah McCullers' 18 points.
Salem returns to action on Thursday when they take on Central State University in G-MAC action. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
