Shakinah Haggins missed a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds, but the Salem International University women's basketball team fell in Philippi, W.Va. to Alderson Broaddus University, 70-53, in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action on Thursday at the Rex Pyles Arena.
Salem drops to 0-21 (0-8 G-MAC) while the Battlers improve to 6-12 (4-5 G-MAC).
Samantha Aikens joined Haggins in a near double-double, scoring 14 points to go along with eight rebounds.
Jessica Lagard had 10 points while
Amanda Jackson grabbed nine boards and scored six points.
AB was led by Rachel Ashley's double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kaitlyn Rohlfing had 16 points, Terra McKenzie scored 13, and Nautica Davis had 10 points.
The Tigers return to the hardwood on Saturday at Davis & Elkins.
