SALEM, W.Va. (Oct. 23) – The Tigers were handed a 3-0 loss (25-17, 25-13, 25-18) by Cedarville in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) action at the T.Edward Davis Gymnasium Friday night.
The loss sends the Salem International University volleyball team to 0-2 in league play, 5-14 overall. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets are a perfect 6-0 in the G-MAC and 12-11 overall after the win.
Sophomore
Rachel Hess (Stuttgart, Germany/Patch) led the Tigers with five kills, while classmate
Alessandra Marquez (Brawley, Calif./Brawley Union) and freshman
Kathryne Mathis (Baytown, Texas./Ross S. Sterling) each chipped in four kills.
The offense was guided by sophomore
Felice Reed (Pilot Point, Texas/Pilot Point), while classmate Jen Foreman (Delaware, Ohio/Rutherford B. Hayes) led the defensive efforts with eight digs.
The Yellow Jacket defense gave the Tigers fits all night. Salem International finished the night with a .013 hitting percentage, with Cedarville tallying seven blocks.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 24 when they host Ursuline at 1 p.m.
