Tigers bounced by D&E in G-MAC Quarterfinals

SALEM, W.Va. (Oct. 31) – The Tigers were knocked out of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Davis & Elkins in the quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at Catalano Stadium.

The Salem International University men's soccer team (9-8-1) allowed three second half goals to the Senators (7-8-2), who end the Tigers conference tournament hopes for a third-straight season.

Despite holding a 15-to-six advantage in shot attempts, the Tigers were only able to place three on net. Davis & Elkins goalkeeper Daniel Nock made all three saves to earn the win for the Senators. Sophomore goalkeeper Dom Gillespie (Whitley Bay, England/Whitley Bay) made two saves on five shots on goal in the loss for the Tigers.

Senior Javier Ruiz (Mexico City, Mexico/Universidad del Valle de Mexico), the second-leading scorer in the G-MAC, attempted a team-high five shots, including two on net, in the loss.
