Tigers fall on Senior Night to D&E, 3-0

SALEM, W.Va. (Nov. 13) – The Tigers were dealt a 3-0 loss (25-9, 25-17, 25-19) by Davis & Elkins on Senior Night in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Friday evening.
 
The loss sends the Salem International University volleyball team to 7-21 overall and 1-8 in the G-MAC. The loss also eliminates the Tigers from any postseason contention this season. Meanwhile, the Senators improve to 5-4 in conference play, 13-15 overall.
 
Sophomore Rachel Hess (Stuttgart, Germany/Patch) led the Tigers with 10 kills in the loss, while both sophomore Felice Reed (Pilot Point, Texas/Pilot Point) and senior Brittney Nesbitt (Kansas City, Mo./Raytown South) tallied double-digit assists with 11 and 10, respectively.
 
Defensively, Salem International was led by junior Emerald Rosenbusch (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) who finished with 15 digs. Sophomore Alessandra Marquez (Brawley, Calif./Brawley Union) finished with three aces and the team's two blocks in the loss.
 
The team honored its seniors prior to the beginning of the third set, Nesbitt and Keona Kelly (Gardner, Ill./Gardner South Wilmington), for their contributions to the program.
 
Salem International concludes the 2015 regular season tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 14 when it hosts Alderson Broaddus for a match a 1 p.m.
