Tigers fall twice on southern road trip

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 7) – The Tigers were dealt a pair of losses at Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene Friday and Saturday in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.
 
The Salem International University volleyball team (6-20, 1-7 G-MAC) were defeated by Kentucky Wesleyan 3-1 (25-17, 25-17, 12-25, 25-18) Friday night, before falling to Trevecca 3-0 (25-10 25-13, 25-15) Saturday afternoon.
 
Senior Brittney Nesbitt (Kansas City, Mo./Raytown South) and freshman Kara Kocurek (Orange Grove, Texas/Orange Grove) each tallied nine kills in the loss to Kentucky Wesleyan (8-17, 2-6 G-MAC), with Nesbitt chipping in 13 assists and a pair of aces to her final line. The offense was guided by a team-high 15 assists from sophomore Felice Reed (Pilot Point, Texas/Pilot Point), while the defense was led by junior Emerald Rosenbusch (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) with eight digs.
 
Sophomore Rachel Hess (Stuttgart, Germany/Patch) led the Tigers in the 3-0 loss at Trevecca (16-11, 6-3 G-MAC) with eight kills, while Rosenbusch led the defense with nine digs in the loss.
 
The Tigers enter the final week of the regular season with three matches on the schedule. Salem International kicks off the week on Tuesday, Nov. 10 when they head to nearby Glenville State for a non-conference match at 6 p.m.
