DETROIT (Dec. 5) – The Salem International University women's basketball team was defeated 81-50 by NCAA Division I Detroit Mercy in an exhibition at Calihan Hall Saturday afternoon.

Samantha Aiken led the Tigers (0-7) with 20 points and six rebounds in the loss. Salem International held the lead only once in the game, 3-2, after an Aiken three-pointer less than two minutes into the game.
The Titans (3-4) shot nearly 50 percent from the field (30 of 64) and held a 50 to 39 edge on the glass, while the Tigers shot 30 percent (21 of 68) in the loss.
Salem International revisits the regular season schedule when they head to Southern Indiana on Tuesday, Dec. 8 for a tip at 6 p.m.
