ELKINS, W.Va. (Jan. 12) – The Tigers were dealt a 99-61 loss by Davis & Elkins Tuesday night in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.
The Salem International University men's basketball team (3-11, 0-2 G-MAC) were led by sophomore
Gerard Tarin (Fort Myers, Fla./East Lee County) who finished with 13 points and six boards. He was making his first appearance since suffering an injury on Dec. 12 against Saint Joseph's (Indiana) in the Joe Manchin Classic.
The Tigers struggled from the field in the first half, shooting 7-of-35 (20 percent), to fall behind 50-17 at halftime. Davis & Elkins (6-9, 1-1 G-MAC) did not relent in the second half and cruised to the win.
Wesley Sprinkle led five Senators in double-figures with 22 points in the win. Davis & Elkins shot 48 percent (38 of 79) for the game.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 16, when they head to New York to take on Nyack in a non-conference contest at 3 p.m.
