SALEM, WV - Despite getting 24 saves from junior goalkeeper
Amanda Allred, Salem International University would drop a 7-0 decision against Walsh University Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 18) in women's collegiate soccer action. Allred would face a total of 31 shots in net for the Tigers.
The Tigers return to the pitch on Monday, October 18 as they travel to West Chester, Pa. to face the Golden Rams of West Chester University at noon. SIU will honor a pair of seniors on Thursday (Oct. 27) when it hosts Alderson Broaddus at 2 p.m. at Catalano Stadium.
The Cavaliers would open up the scoring in the eighth minute as Corynne Swift scored from 14-yards out after receiving a pass from Olivia Peters inside of the box. Peters would make it 3-0 Walsh with a pair of goals in the 12th and 14th minutes. Peters finished the match with seven points (3G, 1A).
Allred would face a total of 15 shots in the first half of action, making nine saves in net for the Tigers.
Walsh would tally three more times in the half to up its lead to 6-0.
Allred and the Tigers defense would keep the Cavaliers' offense at bay for a majority of the second half. Peters would complete her hat-trick with a score in the 56th minute to make 7-0 Walsh.
Walsh held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks and was called offsides on four occasions.
