The matchup will be the first opportunity for fans to see the Tigers in action under first-year head coach Adam Williams. Joining Williams this season will be associate head coach V. Woody Taylor and graduate assistant Myles Davis. Also on the bench for the Tigers will be Frank Harrison, who has fifty-plus years of coaching experience under his belt.

This will be the first meeting between the Tigers and Griffins since Seton Hill traveled to Salem, WV on February 11, 2010. The Griffins were victorious in that meeting 78-71. Seton Hill is now a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) but was formally a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC).

The Tigers will be led by Seniors Victor Blakey, Dominique Robinson and Tavin Askew. Askew (Memphis, TN) will be suiting up in a Tigers uniform for the first time after transferring from the University of the Incarnate Word. SIU will have eight juniors on the squad, including Saquan Epps, who returns from the 2015-16 season. Salem also gets the services of sophomore Drew Pitzer, who was named to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team last season. Pitzer appeared in 15 games for SIU and made his first collegiate start against Trevecca Nazarene.

New faces on the court will look to make an impact this season for Williams and the Tigers. Six of the seven transfers are in their junior seasons, Jalen Thompson (Shelton State), Jordan Robinson (Queens College), Olamilekan Ojo (Garrett County C.C.), Jordan Gaither (Baton Rouge C.C.), Darren Montgomery (College of Dupage), and Nygel Jones (Brown Mackie College). The other transfer is freshman Arick Nicks, who previously attended Marshall.

Salem will host Urbana on Wednesday, November 16 at 7 pm in the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium before hitting the road for a contest with Division I Longwood University on Friday, November 18 at 7 pm in Farmville, Virginia.
