Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV- With 10 kills from freshman Ashly Holt, Salem International defeated Bowie State in consecutive sets (25-15, 29-27, 25-21) on Saturday night (Nov. 5) in women's collegiate volleyball action.

SIU (4-23) will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Monday night (Nov. 7) for a match with Lincoln University. First serve between the Tigers and Lions is set for 6:00 pm. The Tigers play their final home contest on Tuesday night as Bluefield State comes into the T. Edward Davis Gym for a 6:00 pm first serve.

The Tigers were firing on all cylinders in the opening set against the Bulldogs as SIU totaled 13 kills and hit .300 collectively as a team. The Bulldogs would struggle in the first set, committing four errors compared to just six kills.

Both teams would have numerous chances to take the second set as the Tigers would need to reach 29 points to defeat Bowie by a score of 29-27. It would a tough blow for the Bulldogs, who hit .269 as a team and delivered 12 kills.

Needing to win just one more set, SIU tallied a match-high 17 kills to silence the Bulldogs 25-21. Both squads would struggle in the set as the Tigers committed 10 errors, while Bowie committed just one error but only recorded four kills.

Holt finished with a match-high 10 kills for SIU and four service aces, while sophomore Sophie Freihofer finished with a match-high 16 digs for the Tigers. Sophomore Tallora Soriano guided the Tiger offense with 33 of SIU's 37 assists.

Junior Alessandra Marquez tallied nine kills and a team-high five service aces for the Tigers, while teammate and freshman Kristn Holt recorded seven kills.

Breiona Garrison led Bowie State with a nine kills, while totaling 12 digs and three service aces. Tia Williams totaled a team-high 13 digs and recorded six kills. Cheyenne Salter registered 16 of the Bulldogs' 19 assists.
