TIFFIN, Ohio (Sept. 4) – The Tigers were unable to erase a two-goal deficit in their 2-1 loss to Tiffin Sunday afternoon.
The Salem International University men's soccer team (0-2) allowed goals in the 10
th and 46
th minutes of the match, but responded quickly to the second marker. Sophomore
Emilio Marti (Madrid, Spain/IES Colmenarejo) beat the Tiffin goalkeeper less than six minutes after the second Dragon goal to pull the Tigers back within one goal.
Despite the change in momentum, the Tigers were limited on their oppertunities over the final 37 minutes of the match and were defeated.
Salem International kept the match close despite being outshot 20-to-3, with the Dragons, now 2-0 overall, holding a 16-to-2 advantage in corner kick attempts.
Junior
Dom Gillespie (Whitley Bay, England/Whitley Bay) made seven saves for the Tigers, while senior Mohammed Ali Khalaf (Jabriya, Kuwait/Jabriya Indian School) notched the primary assist on the Marti goal.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, September 10 when they head to Boyds, Maryland to take on the University of District of Columbia (UDC) at 2 p.m.
