COLOMBUS, Ohio (Nov. 3, 2017) — The Salem University Tigers lost a tough match on the road, falling in five sets (25-13, 16-25, 25-22, 19-25, 6-15) to the Ohio Dominican University Panthers. 

The Tigers started strong in the first set with 16 kills on 41 attacks and three errors for a .317 hitting percentage, but struggled to string together points in the second, generating just nine kills with six errors. 

Salem came roaring back in the third set, scoring eight of the first 10 points and took advantage of seven Panthers errors to take a 2-1 lead. 

Ohio Dominican closed the fourth set on a 4-0 run and finished the set with 18 kills on 46 attacks and just two errors for an efficient .471 hitting percentage. Salem had 12 kills on 46 attacks with four errors for a .174 hitting percentage. 

In the fifth set, the Tigers struggled to control Jordan Jackie's serves as the Panthers got three service aces in the midst of an 8-0 run to take control of the set. 

Rachel Hess led the Tigers in kills with 18 on 56 attacks and five errors for a .232 hitting percentage while also contributing 13 digs. Sophie Freihofer had 11 kills and a team-high 17 digs. Kristn Holt had eight kills on an efficient .471 hitting percentage. 

Elaina Weltz led Salem with 22 assists and Feliciana Reed had 20. 

With the loss, the Tigers drop to 8-23 and will closeout their season with two matches on Nov. 10 against Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pa.
