Box Score Glennville, W. Va. (Dec. 31, 2017) – The Salem University Tigers men's basketball team lost 76-75 on a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining from the Glenville State College Pioneers' Dwayne Chastain.
In a game that featured 12 lead changes and eight ties, the Tigers took a four-point lead with 19 seconds remaining on an and-one layup and free throw from
Jarius Farrow. But Salem gave a layup to the Pioneers' Darhiu Nunn and then committed a turnover, setting up Chastain's game-winning 3-pointer.
Malik Toppin posted another double-double, leading Salem with 23 points and 15 rebounds, shooting 9-for-13 from the filed and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line, but the Tigers turned the ball over 16 times, giving Glenville State a 21-6 advantage in points off turnovers.
Reggie Oliver got out to a quick start, scoring 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting (including 3-for-5 from the 3-point line), finishing with 14 points and three steals.
???????Nunn led a balanced Glenville scoring attack with 17 points (on 6-for-17 shooting) and five assists as 11 of the 12 Pioneers who played scored but only Nunn finished in double figures.
Farrow (11 points and four assists) and
Darren Montgomery (10 points, 5-for-8 from the free-throw line) also scored in double figures for the Tigers.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 4-9 on the season, including 0-6 on the road. Salem will resume play on Jan. 3 at home against Daemen College at 7 p.m.
