SALEM, WV - The Salem International University Tigers out-scored Davis & Elkins College 22-17 in the fourth quarter of play but a game-high 33 points from Stephanie Wooten gave the Senators a 74-68 victory Monday night (Feb. 6) in NCAA Division II women's basketball action.
Tigers sophomore
Jiahna Flood-Francis scored a team-high 16 points and recorded a team-high three steals, while fellow sophomore
Keishla Gilmore added 13 points and a team-high seven assists. Senior
Franchessca Gill drained a pair of treys for SIU en route to scoring 12 points.
SIU will host senior day festivities on Tuesday, February 14 as the Tigers welcome in the Malone University Pioneers to T. Edward Davis Gymnasium for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. The Tigers will honor seniors

Dorina Barrett, and Gill. SIU will close-out its 2016-17 campaign with a trio of road games.
Wooten showed early in the contest that she would be her teams driving offensive force, scoring 17 of the Senators' 32 points. She would go 6-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-5 from downtown for D&E.
Trailing 35-27, the Tigers would close the opening stanza on a 4-0 run to pull within a point of the Senators. Flood-Francis trimmed the deficit to three points after hitting a pair of free-throws with 1:21 remaining in the quarter. After a missed three-point attempt from D&E's Sydney Turner, SIU junior
Amanda Allred recovered her own rebound to beat the buzzer with a layup and send the Tigers into the locker room trailing 32-31.
The Senators would stretch their lead to 11 points after out-scoring SIU 25-15 in the third quarter. D&E shot 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the floor, 4-of-5 from downtown, and went 5-of-5 at the free-throw line in the quarter. The Tigers tried to use the three-ball to claw their way back into the contest but would battle with the rim, going 2-of-7 from three-point range in the quarter and 6-of-20 from the floor.
Junior
Christy Gonzalez scored two of her six points in the contest with 7:24 left in the third quarter to give the Tigers a three point lead (35-32). A three by Wooten with 6:04 remaining in the quarter would give the Senators a 39-36 lead and start an 8-0 run, putting D&E up 47-36.
Wooten gave the Senators their largest lead of the contest (59-46) after connecting on a pair of free-throws with 7:18 left in the contest. Trailing by nine with just over four minutes left to play, the Tigers turned the momentum to their side as Flood-Francis scored five-straight to trim the Senators lead to 65-61. Quamilla Jackson converted a layup in the paint to pull the Tigers within two (65-63).
With 1:04 left in the contest sophomore
Imari Bowers took a feed from Gill and drained a trey for the Tigers, closing the deficit to one point (67-66). Flood-Francis later knotted the game 68-68 after converting two shots at the free-throw line, but the Senators would close the game on a 6-0 run to snag a 74-68 victory from the Tigers. D&E converted 15-of-17 free throw opportunities in the second-half, while the Tigers went to the line just four times (making three).
Despite going 7-of-28 from downtown, the Tigers had one of their best overall games this season, scoring 40 points in the paint and converting on 16 second-chance points. SIU recorded nine steals, six blocks, and forced the Senators into 15 turnovers in the contest. Wooten finished the game 9-of-21 from the floor, 5-of-12 from downtown, and 10-of-11 at the free-throw line for D&E. Turner recorded 16 points for the Senators and pulled-down a team-high six boards.
Jackson scored nine points off of the bench for the Tigers, who out-scored the Senators bench 21-17 in the contest. Gonzalez added a team-high eight rebounds and two blocks to go along with her six points as the Tigers were narrowly out-rebounded by D&E (32-31). The scored was tied on seven different occasions and tied at six points throughout the contest.
