FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Salem University volleyball team was swept by Kentucky State 3-0 (12-25, 13-25, 23-25), Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-20, while KSU improves to 13-16.
Salem finished the match with a .053 hitting percentage, while Kentucky State managed to hit a .250.
The Tigers led KSU in digs 39-38, whereas the Thorobreds led in kills (38-25), aces (6-3), blocks (5-4) and assists (30-18).
Junior
Liane Moser notched a team-high nine kills and a .368 hitting percentage, while senior
Kathryne Mathis generated six kills and eight digs.
Senior
Cassidy Pluta tied a match-high 10 digs along with 11 assists.
In the first set, the Tigers battled with KSU trading points, as the set was tied 10-10. From there KSU went on a 15-2 run to take set one.
In the final set, Salem found itself down 23-18 and fought its way back to cut the KSU lead to 24-23. Unfortunately, the Thorobreds would score the next point for the match win.
The Tigers take the court Friday as they host a tri-match with Bluefield State at 3:00 p.m. and Central State at 7:00 p.m.
