BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Salem University men's soccer team dropped a match to Bloomfield 3-1, Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 7-6-2, while Bloomfield improves to 6-8.
This marks the Tigers first loss since September 18
th in a match against nationally ranked Ohio Valley.
The match was originally scheduled for 1:30 p.m. but was delayed due to the officials running a bit late as the contest did not start until about 3:30 p.m.
Bloomfield outshot the Tigers 10-3, as Salem was only able to generate one shot in the second half.
The first goal of the match came at 7:45 as Bloomfield's Regsan Watkins found a way past freshman
Bernardo Santos for a 1-0 lead over Salem.
The Tigers answered at 15:06 as sophomore
Mark Ferenczi-Bako found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season on an assist from classmate
Federico Toschi to tie the contest at 1-1.
Five minutes later, Bloomfield's Regsan Watkins scored his scored goal of the afternoon as he chipped the ball over Santos.
Santos finished the contest with three goals allowed and four saves.
At 36:20, Bloomfield added its third goal of the match as Robert Sparrow scored off a rebounded shot giving Bloomfield a 3-1 lead over the Tigers.
Salem looks to get back on track Wednesday as it travels to Bluefield College (Va.) for a match set at 3:00 p.m.
