SALEM, W.Va. – The Salem University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-17) defeat to Ohio Dominican on Senior Night, Tuesday evening.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 7-29 on the season.
Ohio Dominican led Salem in kills (35-18), aces (7-0), blocks (11-6) and assists (34-18), while the Tigers and Panthers tied with 61 digs each.
The Tigers attack was led by senior
Cassidy Pluta with six kills and eight assists, while she posted 17 digs on the defensive side.
Senior
Kathryne Mathis notched four kills, while freshman
Jalavia Johnson garnered five blocks and three kills.
The Tigers battled in each set, while in the first set they held a 16-13 lead over the Panthers as freshman
Kira Lilly notched a kill on an assist from Pluta.
In the second set there were several lead changes but as the score was tied 17-17, ODU went on an 8-4 run to close out the set 25-21 and take a 2-0 lead in the match over the Tigers.
The Panthers were led by Alexis Young who posted 11 kills, while Zoe Carmichael recorded 25 assists.
The Tigers are back on the court Thursday as they travel to Central State for a match at 7:00 p.m.
