MORGANTOWN, W.Va.- The Salem University women's soccer team rolled-over Washington Adventist 7-1, Thursday afternoon at Mylan Park.
With the commanding win, the Tigers season record pushes to 5-3-1.
The Tigers led the Shock in shots (30-4), shots on goal (20-2) and corner kicks (6-1).
The first goal of the game and only goal of the first half came from Salem's freshman forward
Aliyah Armijo at 38:20 as she received a pass from junior
Tamara Queiroz and found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Washington Adventist scored its only goal of the contest at 47:25 as Jennifer Santos took an open goal shot to tie the game 1-1.
Sophomore
Thuto Ramafifi scored the next four goals as her first goal happened at 49:55 as she received a through ball from Queiroz and put it in the back of the net for a 2-1 lead. Just over a minute later junior Macy Meyers passed the ball to Ramafifi for a one on one battle with the keeper and scoring to extend the lead 3-1.
A fast break through the defenders allowed Ramafifi to score again at 62:58 giving her a hat-trick, but there was no stopping Ramafifi as she scored her fourth and final goal of the day at 73:55 increasing the score to 5-1.
Junior
Catherine Bonilla entered the game fired up as she scored Salem's sixth goal after dribbling the ball and finessing past defenders at 81:01.
Freshman
Vianey Medina scored her first goal as a Tiger at 86:22 as senior
Kelsea Freiling took a free kick and junior
Barbara Stenner redirected it to Medina.
The Tigers host Roberts Wesleyan next on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
